Italy Celebrates 60 Years of Archaeological Partnership with Tunisia


Tunis: The two-day event marking the 60th anniversary of the first Italian-Tunisian archaeological mission concluded successfully at the Bardo Museum. The event, organized in collaboration with the Institut National du Patrimoine, featured a debate rich in ideas and initiatives.



According to Ansa News Agency, the Italian Diplomatic Representation in Tunisia shared on X the sentiments of Italian ambassador Alessandro Prunas, who expressed pride in Italy being Tunisia’s first archaeological partner. He emphasized the cooperation model built on expertise exchange and mutual enrichment, highlighting scientific rigor, innovation, and local development promotion. The study days provided an opportunity for directors of joint excavation missions to present their work at significant archaeological sites across Tunisia and introduce upcoming projects, focusing on public engagement and education.
