Italy Braced for More Extreme Weather After Deadly Storms

Milan: Italy was braced for more extreme weather on Monday after a 63-year-old woman was killed by a falling tree near Milan on Sunday as the north of the country was battered by violent storms. Many of the areas not affected by storms are still suffering the effects of a long and intense heatwave that has been linked to several deaths here.

According to Ansa News Agency, scientists say the climate crisis caused by human greenhouse gas emissions is making extreme weather events such as heatwaves, droughts, supercharged storms, and flooding more frequent and more intense. Although there are many sources of the greenhouse gases that are causing global heating, the main driver is the burning of fossil fuels such as oil, gas, and coal, sales of which generate huge profits for the world’s energy giants.
