Italy Advocates for Peaceful Developments in Middle East, Says Tajani in Israel

Tel Aviv: Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani expressed Italy’s commitment to fostering peaceful developments during his visit to Israel. Tajani’s visit comes amid a recently established ceasefire between Tel Aviv and Hamas in Gaza, emphasizing Italy’s role in promoting peace in the region.

According to Ansa News Agency, Tajani stated his intention to hold significant meetings in both Israel and Palestine to support peace efforts. He reiterated Italy’s aspiration to be a driving force behind positive developments, focusing on reconstruction and initiatives like “Food for Gaza.” This project aims to aid Palestinian civilians by providing food support, a collaborative effort launched last March with UN agencies, including WFP and FAO, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and civil protection.

During his visit, Tajani met with prominent figures such as Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs Gideon Sa’ar and Palestinian Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Mohammed Mustafa in Ramallah. He also engaged with Italian Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, reflecting Italy’s comprehensive approach to fostering stability and peace in the Middle East. Tajani emphasized the importance of strengthening the ceasefire to ensure long-term stability in the region.
