Italo-US Scientists Make Breakthrough in Early ALS Diagnosis

Turin: An Italo-US team of scientists has made a breakthrough in the early diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Motor Neurone Disease or Lou Gehrig’s Disease, potentially paving the way for faster and better treatment of the fatal nerve-wasting condition.

According to Ansa News Agency, a team of researchers from Turin and the US, using cutting-edge technologies and artificial intelligence, has identified a group of proteins in the blood that may be a reliable biomarker for identifying the neurodegenerative disease in its early stages, perhaps even before clinical symptoms appear.
