Italian Wine Roadshow Showcases 45 Wineries in Nairobi

Nairobi: The second edition of the ‘Top Italian Wine Roadshow,’ an event promoting Italian wines and wineries of excellence, was organized by Gambero Rosso in Nairobi today. This event, focused on highlighting Italian food and wine, featured 45 wineries that represented a significant portion of the Italian territory.

According to Ansa News Agency, the event was inaugurated by the Italian Ambassador to Kenya, Roberto Natali, alongside Gambero Rosso CEO Luigi Salerno and Fiona Ngesa, Acting Director Market Development of the Kenyan Tourist Board. The roadshow drew a large audience of industry operators, restaurateurs, and Kenyan wine enthusiasts who participated in masterclasses and guided tasting sessions.

Ambassador Natali remarked on the growing presence of Italian wine producers in Nairobi compared to last year, indicating an increasing appreciation of Italian wine among Kenyans. He noted a 12 percent rise in Italian wine imports in the first ten months of 2024, with Italy currently being the third-largest supplier after South Africa and France. This growth signifies that approximately one in every ten bottles of wine available in Kenyan supermarkets and restaurants is Italian. During the event, Gambero Rosso also awarded Italian restaurants, wine shops, and importers that excel in quality and promoting Italian culture through food and wine.
