Rome: The idea of deploying Italian troops in Ukraine has never been considered, Premier Giorgia Meloni informed the Senate on Tuesday. Meloni clarified Italy’s position in response to ongoing discussions about European military involvement in Ukraine.

According to Ansa News Agency, Meloni emphasized Italy’s stance during her official communications to the Senate ahead of this week’s European Council meeting. She acknowledged the proposals from other nations, notably the United Kingdom and France, regarding the deployment of European troops, but expressed skepticism about their feasibility. Meloni stated that while respecting these proposals, Italy believes that sending troops would be a complex, risky, and ineffective measure.
