Italian Sculptor Gianfreda Conducts Cultural Exchange Workshop in Accra
Accra: Italian sculptor Alberto Gianfreda was a guest of the Nubuke Foundation in Accra for a performance workshop in sculpture that brings together research, production, and education. As part of a collaborative exploration of cultural exchange, handcrafted ceramic animals from Italy were combined with Ghanaian works through processes of destruction and reconstruction, creating new shared sculptural forms.
According to Ansa News Agency, the final presentation of the works to the public at the Nubuke Foundation was attended by Italy’s ambassador to Ghana, Laura Ranalli. For the occasion, artist Gianfreda met with the Italian community at the Little Italian Library and illustrated his artistic creations. The works of Alberto Gianfreda and Frederick Ebenezer Okai will remain on display in Nubuke until the end of September 2025.
This initiative is part of the Erasmus International Program, implemented with the Academy of Fine Arts of Bologna, Sunyani Technical University, and Frederick Ebenezer Okai, under the
patronage of the Italian Embassy.
