Italian Retail Sales Surge in April, Reports Istat

Rome: Italian retail sales experienced a notable increase in April both compared to March and on a year-on-year basis.

According to Ansa News Agency, the national statistics agency, sales rose by 0.7% in value and 0.5% in volume compared to the previous month of March.

The agency reported that retail sales increased by 3.7% in value terms and 1.9% in volume when compared to April 2024. This marks the highest value increase since June 2023. Istat attributed the rise in sales largely to food purchases related to the Easter holiday period.
