Italian Republic Day Celebrations Highlight Italy-India Strategic Partnership

New Delhi: Italian Republic Day was celebrated with grandeur in New Delhi, emphasizing the robust relationship between Italy and India. The event, held in the gardens of the Italian embassy, was attended by over a thousand guests, including the Indian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, who served as the guest of honor. The celebration underscored the historical ties and future prospects between the two nations, with a particular focus on trade, investment, and cultural exchange.

According to Ansa News Agency, the Italian Ambassador to India, Antonio Bartoli, highlighted the long-standing trade relations between Rome and India, tracing back two thousand years. He drew parallels between historical trade routes and the proposed Indo-Mediterranean Corridor (Imec), which aims to modernize the exchange of goods and data. Ambassador Bartoli emphasized the high potential of the Indian market and the need to create more business opportunities and tools for collaboration.

The celebration was marked by an immersive performance by artist Franz Cerami, who transformed the embassy into an ‘enchanted garden’, blending nature and urban elements in a dreamlike display. The evening was further enriched by music, dance, and Italian cuisine, featuring performances by a tenor and a soprano from the Neemrana Music Foundation, accompanied by the Indian Air Force band.

In addition to the vibrant cultural exchange, the event showcased the latest models of iconic Italian brands such as Ferrari, Ducati, and Piaggio, displayed as sculptures in the park. The festivities concluded with a unique blend of Italian songs choreographed in a Bollywood style and a performance by young members of the Italian Association in India, further cementing the cultural ties between the two countries.
