Italian Inflation Stable at 1.6% in September: Istat

Rome: Italy’s annual inflation rate for September remained unchanged at 1.6%, consistent with the rate observed in August, as reported by Istat on Thursday. This figure confirmed the preliminary estimate provided by the national statistics agency at the end of the previous month.

According to Ansa News Agency, Istat noted a decrease in the consumer price index by 0.2% in month-on-month terms. The report highlighted a slight decline in core inflation, which excludes energy and unprocessed food, from 2.1% in August to 2.0% in September.

Additionally, Istat’s ‘shopping trolley’ index, which tracks the prices of food, household goods, and personal care products, showed a decrease to 3.1% from 3.4%.
