Italian Imports Outpace Exports in January, Reports Istat
Rome: Italian imports in January experienced a significant growth of 3.2%, outpacing the more modest 0.6% increase in exports on a month-on-month basis, Istat reported on Tuesday.
According to Ansa News Agency, on an annual basis, exports saw a rise of 2.5% in value but encountered a decline of 2.6% in volume. In contrast, imports showed a robust tendential increase of 8.8% in value and 4.1% in volume.
Istat further noted that in January, the prices of imports climbed by 0.4% on a monthly basis and increased by 1.4% annually, as opposed to a 0.1% rise in December 2024. This price escalation was attributed to the increased cost of energy products, particularly crude oil, as well as intermediate goods.
