Italian Embassy in Athens Inaugurates Red Bench to Combat Violence Against Women
Athens: The Italian Ambassador to Athens, Paolo Cuculi, alongside representatives from Italian and Greek institutions and associations, has inaugurated a red bench at the Italian Residence in Athens. This bench serves as a poignant symbol of the void left in society when a woman falls victim to feminicide.
According to Ansa News Agency, this initiative is part of a broader campaign launched by Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani. The campaign aims to enhance the Italian diplomatic-consular network’s efforts in preventing and combating all forms of violence and discrimination against women.
In his speech during the inauguration, Ambassador Cuculi highlighted Italy’s unwavering commitment to this cause. He emphasized the priority of combating gender-based violence, which was reaffirmed at the G7 Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Fiuggi, chaired by Italy.
