Italian Bond Spread Leaps Up Amid Tariff Turmoil
Rome: The spread between Italy’s 10-year BTP bond and the German Bund leapt up to 130 basis points in early trading on Monday, the highest level since November.
According to Ansa News Agency, the yield on the BTP rose by three basis points to 3.79% while that on the Bund dropped by eight to 2.49% as investors put money into German State paper amid the financial turmoil sparked by US President Donald Trump’s tariffs.
The bond spread closed at 119.3 basis points on Friday.
