Israel’s Bombings Must Stop Says Tajani
Rome: Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani on Wednesday reiterated his call for Israel to halt its offensive against Hamas in Gaza due to the huge toll it is having on Palestinian civilians. “The population of the Strip has been paying a very high price for too long,” Tajani said as he reported to the Lower House on the situation in Gaza.
According to Ansa News Agency, Tajani emphasized the impact on vulnerable groups, stating, “As Pope Leo XIV pointed out, the children, the elderly, the sick are paying the price. These innocent deaths wound our values and outrage our consciences.” He criticized the Israeli government’s actions, describing them as “taking on dramatic, absolutely unacceptable forms” in response to terrorism.
Tajani urged for an end to the bombing, the resumption of humanitarian assistance, and the restoration of respect for international humanitarian law. He emphasized the need for a political process leading to two states coexisting peacefully and securely.
He highlighted Ita
ly’s efforts alongside European partners and US Secretary of State Rubio, focusing on diplomatic initiatives to restore dialogue and prevent further catastrophe.
