Israel Notified U.S. Prior to Striking Iran, Reports Israeli Media

TEL AVIV: Israel’s state television, KAN, reported that the Israeli government informed the United States ahead of its military strikes against targets in Iran. According to KAN, the attack was approved by Israel’s top defense officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. The report noted that the military action was conducted following Iran’s ballistic missile attack on Israel earlier this month.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Israeli military announced that it carried out “precise strikes” against military targets in Iran, with explosions reportedly heard in the capital, Tehran. The White House National Security Council, through spokesman Sean Savett, acknowledged Israel’s actions as a form of self-defense in response to the Iranian attack on October 1st.

Iran’s semi-official Fars News Agency reported that the Israeli strikes targeted several military bases located to the west and southwest of Tehran. The Iranian state television also confirmed the occurrence
of explosions in the city, though it noted that the exact source of the explosions remained undetermined, with air defense systems contributing to some of the explosive sounds.

Further details on the incident are expected, as reported by the semi-official Tasnim News Agency. It clarified that there was no unusual activity at Tehran’s major airports, Imam Khomeini International Airport and Mehrabad Airport. It also pointed out that some videos circulating on social media, purportedly showing the explosions, were outdated and unrelated to the recent events.
