Israel Launches Second Wave of Strikes on Iran; Explosions Reported in Tehran

TEHRAN: Iranian media reported five new explosions in Tehran as Israel commenced a second wave of military strikes against Iran. This development marks a significant escalation in the ongoing tensions between the two nations.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Tasnim news agency confirmed that air defense systems in central Tehran have been activated in response to the attacks. Iranian state television reported hearing six loud sounds resembling explosions in various parts of the capital, though the origins of these noises remain unverified.

The Israeli publication, Yedioth Ahronoth, disputed Iranian claims that the explosions were due to air defense interceptions and dismissed these reports as false. Meanwhile, Israel announced that its military had carried out “precise strikes” on what it described as ‘military targets’ within Iran. Rear Adm. Danial Hagari, an Israeli army spokesman, stated that these operations are ongoing.

Israeli army radio reported that dozens of Israeli aircraft are involved in the at
tacks, targeting Tehran, Meshed, and a power station in Karaj. Despite being informed beforehand, an American defense official stated that there is no U.S. involvement in the Israeli strikes.

Israel’s state television, KAN, reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant were present at the Defense Ministry building during the strikes. An evening report from KAN, citing an unnamed source, indicated that Defense Minister Gallant and Chief of General Staff Herzi Halevi had approved the attack plan, awaiting government approval.
