At Least 19 Dead in Mexico Bus and Truck Collision


ZACATECAS: At least 19 people lost their lives and six others sustained serious injuries when a passenger bus collided with a double-trailer truck in Mexico, local authorities reported. The tragic incident occurred as the bus traveled from Tepic to Chihuahua, crashing near Zacatecas early Saturday.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Secretary General of Zacatecas Government, Rodrigo Reyes Muguerza, confirmed that the injured passengers were transported to a hospital in Zacatecas for medical treatment. The collision prompted an immediate response from local authorities and emergency services.

Zacatecas Governor David Monreal Avila addressed the situation on social media platform X, stating that all security and emergency services had been deployed to the site of the accident. He extended condolences to the families affected and assured that support for all victims would be provided.

The truck driver reportedly fled the scene but was later apprehended by National Guard officers. Meanwhile, the State Attorney G
eneral’s Office has initiated a criminal investigation into the incident. The State Commission for Victim Assistance is actively coordinating support efforts for the victims and their families.
