Iran Calls for Peace Amid Rising Tensions with Israel

ISTANBUL: Iran has expressed its desire for peace while simultaneously preparing for any potential scenarios, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced during a press conference with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Istanbul.

According to Anadolu Agency, Araghchi highlighted the serious threat posed by the ongoing conflict in the region, emphasizing Iran’s preference for peace. However, he also stated that Iran is ready to face any scenario that may arise. This statement comes amidst continued air and ground attacks by Israel in Lebanon and Gaza, despite international efforts to de-escalate the situation.

Earlier this month, Iran retaliated with missile attacks on Israel following the assassination of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh and Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has promised that Iran will “pay” for these attacks, though he is reportedly still considering the appropriate response.
