Inter and Milan Ultra Leaders Sentenced to 10 Years for Mafia Involvement

Milan: The heads of ultra factions among Inter Milan and AC Milan fans were sentenced to 10 years each in prison on Tuesday for their involvement in activities linked to the Calabrian ‘Ndrangheta mafia. This mafia group is recognized as Italy’s most affluent and influential organized crime syndicate and had infiltrated fan activities, merchandise rackets, ticketing, and other criminal activities, including murder and attempted murder.

According to Ansa News Agency, the judge sentenced Andrea Beretta, a former leader of the Inter Curva Nord and a collaborator of justice, to ten years in prison. Beretta was accused of killing Antonio Bellocco, a board member of the Nerazzurri ultras and a descendant of the ‘Ndrangheta clan, as well as being involved in criminal activities with mafia association.

Luca Lucci, leader of the Milan Curva Sud, also received a ten-year sentence. Lucci was charged with instigating the attempted murder of ultra member Enzo Anghinelli and for being part of a criminal association. These sentences were part of several rulings issued by preliminary hearing judge Rossana Mongiardo in a fast-track trial involving multiple aspects of the San Siro ultra end stands.
