Inflation in Italy Reaches 1.6% in February, Istat Reports

Rome: Italy’s annual inflation rate increased to 1.6% in February, as per the final data released by Istat on Monday. The national statistics agency noted that its consumer price index for the entire nation, excluding tobacco, saw a month-on-month increase of 0.2% in February.

According to Ansa News Agency, the preliminary estimate for the inflation rate had been slightly higher at 1.7%. Istat also released definitive data on consumption prices, indicating that ‘shopping trolley’ prices, which encompass food, household, and personal care products, remained stable. These prices rose from 1.7% in January to 2% in February, which was lower than the preliminary estimate of a 2.2% increase.

Furthermore, Istat reported a slight decrease in the prices of products with high purchase frequency. These prices fell from a 2.0% increase in January to 1.9% in February.
