Hungarian Foreign Minister Honors Freedom Fighters, Reflects on Historical Struggles

Budapest: Péter Szijjártó, Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, emphasized the harsh lessons learned by Hungarians during the 20th century, as he paid homage to the heroes of the country’s fight for freedom. Szijjártó highlighted the contrasting reactions of global blocs during Hungary’s struggle for sovereignty and the international support received by Hungarian freedom fighters.

He acknowledged that despite this, global audiences observed the events in Budapest with empathy and concern, expressing solidarity with the Hungarian freedom fighters.
