Hegyvidék Self-Government Faces Criticism Over Withdrawal of Support for Christian Communities

BUDAPEST: The Hegyvidék Self-Government, under the leadership of Gergely Kovács, is facing criticism for its decision to withdraw support from Christian communities within the district. Tristan Azbej, leader of the Christian Democrats in the region, expressed his concerns, highlighting that the move aligns with his earlier warnings about potential actions against Christian groups.

According to KDNP, Azbej had previously cautioned during the campaign that similar actions had been taken in the IX district, and he feared the XII district would follow suit. He stated that his concerns were raised with the Mayor at the beginning of October, but the response was marked by what he described as “empty irony,” rather than any substantial engagement or answers. Brigitta Pulay, a local government delegate of the Hegyvidéki KDNP, shared a video detailing what she described as anti-community measures by the district administration, which she characterized as pro-dog.
