Rome: Deputy Premier and Transport Minister Matteo Salvini has affirmed that the government is on track to complete its term in 2027, even if coalition members may have differing opinions on certain amendments. Salvini made these remarks on Sunday during a video address to the national assembly of Noi Moderati, a centrist ally of the cabinet.
According to Ansa News Agency, Salvini expressed his confidence in the stability and longevity of the current government, despite recent tensions within the ruling centre-right coalition. The disagreements have mainly involved the League party, led by Salvini, and the centre-right post-Berlusconi Forza Italia (FI) party. Key points of contention have included a proposed cut to the Rai state broadcaster license fee and issues related to the healthcare system in Calabria.
Salvini emphasized the importance of unity within the government, suggesting that differing votes on specific amendments should not threaten the coalition’s overall stability or its ability to govern ef
fectively until the end of its term. The comments were made in a bid to reassure both his party and the public amidst rising concerns over the coalition’s cohesion following the recent disputes.
