Gaza Occupation Will Worsen Dramatic Situation Says Meloni

Gaza: Israel’s planned occupation of Gaza will worsen a dramatic situation on the Strip, Premier Giorgia Meloni said Thursday. “Italy is following with deep concern recent developments related to the decisions taken by the Israeli government regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank and firmly reaffirms its commitment to peace, security, and respect for international law,” Meloni said in a statement.

According to Ansa News Agency, Meloni highlighted that the decision to proceed with the occupation of Gaza, in response to the terrorist attack by Hamas on October 7, 2023, constitutes a further military escalation. She emphasized that this action can only worsen the already dramatic humanitarian situation in the region.
