Canosa di Puglia: The front door of the residence of Member of European Parliament (MEP) Francesco Ventola was set on fire in the early hours of Saturday. The incident occurred at 3 am while Ventola, a member of Premier Giorgia Meloni’s Brothers of Italy (FdI) party, and his family were at home. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the fire.
According to Ansa News Agency, police suspect the fire was caused by a Molotov cocktail. An investigation is currently underway to determine the exact circumstances and motives behind the attack.
Francesco Ventola, before his election to the European Parliament, held several significant positions. He served as the mayor of Canosa, president of the province of Barletta-Andria-Trani, and was the FdI whip in Puglia’s regional council until last June. Police continue to investigate the incident, considering Ventola’s prominent political background.
