Four Italian Films Compete at 20th Rome Cinema Festival

Rome: Four Italian films are in competition at this year’s 20th Rome Cinema Festival from October 15 to 26, organisers said Friday. They include works from directors Vincenzo Alfieri, Andrea De Sica, Ilaria de Laurentiis, Andrea Paolo Massara, Raffaele Brunetti, and Leandro Picarella.

According to Ansa News Agency, the films are captivating in their narratives and themes. Vincenzo Alfieri’s “40 Secondi” explores the tragic death of Willy Monteiro Duarte, a hero who was murdered by two MMA-expert brothers after intervening to protect a friend near Rome in September 2020. Andrea De Sica’s “Gli Occhi Degli Altri” delves into the 1970 Rome murder by a Milanese aristocrat of his wife and her lover, featuring performances by Filippo Timi and Jasmine Trinca. The film “Roberto Rossellini, Pi¹ Di Una Vita,” directed by Ilaria de Laurentiis, Andrea Paolo Massara, and Raffaele Brunetti, examines the life of the renowned director with appearances by Isabella Rossellini and Vinicio Marchioni. Lastly, Leandro Picarella’s “Sciatunostro” portrays the friendship between two boys on a Mediterranean island.

The jury for this year’s festival will be chaired by comedian and actress Paola Cortellesi, who has gained attention following her recent success with the film “C’¨ Ancora Domani” (There’s Still Tomorrow).
