Foreign Minister Extends Congratulations to Georgian Dream Party on Election Victory
Tbilisi: Péter Szijjártó, Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, has offered his congratulations to Georgia’s ruling Georgian Dream party for securing the confidence of the Georgian electorate in the recent elections. The Hungarian government expressed readiness to enhance cooperation with Georgia, emphasizing mutual respect and support for Georgia’s European integration aspirations.
According to About Hungary, Minister Szijjártó conveyed his message through a Facebook post, highlighting that the election results favored the pro-sovereignty, pro-peace, and pro-family agenda of the Georgian Dream party, which prioritizes national interests. He contrasted this outcome with the expectations of Brussels and liberal factions.
The minister remarked on the immediate criticism following the election, where accusations of unfairness and claims of democratic deficiencies in Georgia emerged. He specifically noted criticism from the Lithuanian foreign minister, whose own party faced electoral defeat recently.
Szijjártó’s comments underscore the geopolitical tensions and differing perspectives on governance and democracy within the region.
