Bishkek: Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, addressed a meeting of the council of foreign ministers of the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) in Bishkek on Wednesday. Minister Szijjártó highlighted the significant growth in trade between Hungary and OTS member states, which has surpassed EUR 5 billion annually. This marks a 20% increase over the past year and a remarkable 350% rise over the last 15 years.
According to About Hungary, Minister Szijjártó emphasized that Hungary’s energy security has been strengthened through cooperation with OTS members. He pointed out key developments such as gas deliveries from Turkiye and Azerbaijan, and the commencement of gas production at a Kazakh gas field by Hungarian oil and gas company MOL. Additionally, he noted Hungary’s commitment to the Turkic Investment Fund, with a USD 100 million transfer already underway, and the initiation of the first project by the OTS Drought Prevention Institute in Budapest.

m OTS member countries have applied for the 1,040 scholarships that Hungary offers annually for enrollment in its universities. Minister Szijjártó also announced that Hungary will host an informal OTS summit in Budapest next year.
