Florence Mayor’s Complaint Leads to Identification of Lewd Website Administrator
Florence: Florence Mayor Sara Funaro announced Tuesday that significant progress has been made in the investigation into a lewd website that published sexualized photos of her and other prominent women, including centre-left politicians, Premier Giorgia Meloni, as well as actresses and influencers. The investigation has led to the identification of a 45-year-old businessman behind the site.
According to Ansa News Agency, Mayor Funaro expressed her gratitude to the institutional levels working swiftly to identify the alleged perpetrator. She emphasized that her complaint was filed not just for her own sake, but for all women affected by such incidents and urged others to report similar occurrences.
“This is violence, even when it happens in a world still too unregulated and uncontrolled like the web,” Funaro stated, urging awareness and action against such acts. Florence police identified Vittorio Vitiello, a Pompei-born man who runs an events and advertising firm in Florence, as the administrator of the site, Phica.eu, a name that echoes Italian slang.
