Fiorentina Up to 6th with 1-0 Win Over Lecce


Florence: Fiorentina rose to a provisional sixth place in Serie A, one ahead of Bologna who have played one game less than the Viola, after a 1-0 home win over 16th placed Lecce Friday night. It was their first win after three straight defeats.



According to Ansa News Agency, the Florentines are on 45 points from 27 matches while Bologna, who play 15th-placed Cagliari on Sunday night, are on 44 from 26. The goal came in the ninth minute from 30-year-old Germany left wing-back Robin Gosens.



The victory marks an important turnaround for Fiorentina, breaking a streak of losses and boosting their position in the league standings.
