Finally Clear Picture for Businesses on Tariffs, Says PM Office
Rome: Ajoint EU-US statement formalising the 15% tariffs deal made in Scotland at the end of last month between US President Donald Trump and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen “finally provides a clear picture for businesses on tariffs,” Premier Giorgia Meloni’s office at Palazzo Chigi in Rome said Thursday.
According to Ansa News Agency, the joint EU-US declaration formalized the political agreement reached on July 27 in Scotland between President von der Leyen and President Trump. The statement from Palazzo Chigi highlighted that this agreement provides the business world with a clearer understanding of the new context for transatlantic trade relations.
The statement further clarified that while this development is not the ultimate or ideal resolution, significant milestones have been achieved. Key among these is the avoidance of a trade war and the establishment of a foundation for mutually beneficial trade relations.
