Filippo Tortu Declines to Answer in Jacobs Spy Case


Milan: Italian 4x100m relay gold medalist sprinter Filippo Tortu on Monday declined to answer prosecutors’ questions in a case of alleged spying on Italy teammate and double Tokyo gold medallist Marcello Jacobs, judicial sources said. Tortu exercised his right to remain silent in a case in which his brother Giacomo is under investigation as part of an alleged cyber spying ring involving the Milan-based Equalize company.



According to Ansa News Agency, Filippo Tortu is a witness and is not under investigation in the case. The investigation revolves around a suspected cyber espionage operation that has raised concerns within the athletic community. The involvement of Equalize company is being scrutinized as part of the inquiry into the alleged spying activities.
