Exhibition in Yangon Chronicles 700 Years of Italian Travels in Myanmar

Yangon: The Italian Embassy in Yangon is set to inaugurate an exhibition titled ‘700 Years of Bonds: Unveiling the Journey of Italians in Myanmar’ on June 4, coinciding with the celebrations of the Republic Day. This exhibition narrates seven centuries of Myanmar’s history through the experiences of Italians who traveled and resided in the ‘Land of Gold’.

According to Ansa News Agency, the exhibition aims to highlight the unexpected and little-known connections between Italy and Myanmar. Nicol² Tassoni Estense, the Embassy’s Head of Mission, who curated and organized the exhibition, emphasized that by piecing together these historical encounters, visitors will embark on a temporal journey filled with notable figures and adventures.

The exhibition also seeks to offer a perspective on the enduring relationship between Italy and Myanmar, especially in light of recent challenges faced by Myanmar, such as the earthquake on March 28. Tassoni Estense remarked on the importance of recognizing the strong historical foundations that support the relationship between the two nations, suggesting this awareness can provide hope and confidence for the future.
