Exempt Mental Patients from New Highway Code Norms – Docs

Rome: The Italian Society of Psychiatry (SIP) on Friday requested the government to exempt patients on psychoactive drugs from the newly implemented ‘zero tolerance’ highway code norms concerning drug use. The society highlighted that many prescription medications have effects similar to those of illegal narcotics.

According to Ansa News Agency, SIP has also called for the establishment of an expert panel to address this matter. The society argues that the current norms could adversely affect patients who rely on prescribed psychoactive drugs for their mental health treatment.
