Ex President of Province of Salerno Alfieri Arrested in Political-Mafia Investigation

Salerno: The former president of the Province of Salerno and former mayor of Capaccio Paestum, Franco Alfieri, was among 10 individuals arrested in connection with an investigation into political-mafia exchanges, including vote buying in the regions of Campania and Abruzzo.

According to Ansa News Agency, Alfieri had previously been arrested on October 3rd of last year as part of an investigation into rigged tenders during his tenure as the head of the Province and of the town of Salerno. Following his initial arrest, he resigned from his positions and was subsequently placed under house arrest.
