European Nations Call for Halt to IDF Operations Against UNIFIL in Lebanon

LONDON — Italy, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom jointly demanded an immediate cessation of Israeli Defense Forces operations targeting the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), citing injuries to peacekeepers and violations of international laws.

According to Ansa News Agency, the foreign ministers of the four countries expressed “deep concern over the recent attacks by the IDF on UNIFIL bases,” which resulted in several injuries among the peacekeeping forces. Their strong condemnation came through a collective statement released on Monday, emphasizing the urgency for Israel to halt these military activities. The ministers underscored that such actions not only threaten the security of UNIFIL personnel but also breach international humanitarian law and contravene Security Council Resolution 1701.

The statement elaborated on the gravity of the situation, where any deliberate attack on the mission undermines efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region. The European leaders urged all parties involved to adhere to established international norms and to support the mission’s objective of ensuring peace and security.
