EU to Replace 10,000 Withdrawn US Soldiers with European Forces: Crosetto
Durres: The European Union is poised to replace 10,000 US soldiers with its own military forces as the United States plans to withdraw troops from Europe, according to Defence Minister Guido Crosetto. The announcement was made on Tuesday, highlighting the EU’s readiness to fill the gap left by the departing American forces.
According to Ansa News Agency, Crosetto expressed confidence in the EU’s ability to replace the US troops with European contingents. He made these remarks while commenting on the Pentagon’s plan to pull 10,000 soldiers out of Europe. Crosetto emphasized that this move by the American government was anticipated, as it had been previously announced by the Biden administration.
During his visit aboard the Amerigo Vespucci navy training tall ship in the Albanian port of Durres, Crosetto noted that the decision was not unexpected. “It is something we have been preparing for a long time,” he stated, adding that the next step is to determine the timeline for the withdrawal and replacement of troops.
