EU Engages with Agricultural Supply Chain on Water Resilience

Brussels: Agriculture, industry, and finance sectors are set to converge as the European Commission prepares to launch a series of “high-level” roundtables next week. These discussions are integral to the development of a comprehensive water resilience strategy, anticipated to be unveiled “before summer.”

According to Ansa News Agency, the first roundtable, themed “Water, Agriculture, and the Food Supply Chain,” will commence on Tuesday, March 25. This session will delve into the roles of agriculture and the food sectors in bolstering water resilience, highlighting measures these industries can adopt to ensure sustainable water management.

The second roundtable, scheduled for March 27, will shift focus to “Water and Industry.” This meeting aims to explore how the industrial sector can leverage water resource management and cutting-edge technologies to maintain a competitive edge.

Concluding the series, the third session, titled “Water and Finance,” will occur on March 28. This discussion will concentrate on the financial investments necessary to enhance water resilience, addressing the economic aspects of sustainable water resource management.

All discussions will be under the leadership of European Commissioner for the Environment, Jessika Roswall, who will guide the sessions towards actionable outcomes for the sectors involved.
