Ensure Flotilla’s Safety, Italy and Greece Tell Israel

Italy and greece: Italy and Greece on Wednesday called on Israel to ensure the safety of the people involved in the Global Sumud Flotilla in a joint statement by their foreign ministers, while at the same time appealing to the activists to accept an offer from the Catholic Church for it to get the aid they are carrying to Palestinian people in Gaza.

According to Ansa News Agency, the joint statement emphasized the importance of monitoring developments in the Global Sumud Flotilla with a call directed at Israeli authorities to ensure the safety and security of the participants. Furthermore, the statement urged Israel to allow for all consular protection measures to be enacted.

The foreign ministers of Italy and Greece also appealed to the participants of the flotilla to consider the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem’s proposal to safely deliver the aid intended for the people of Gaza. The statement highlighted the solidarity with the Palestinian population, especially the children, women, and men of Gaza.

e joint statement also referenced a diplomatic initiative led by US President Donald J. Trump, which is seen as a potential opportunity to end the ongoing conflict and alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian population. It called for full humanitarian access and the need to establish a ceasefire promptly.

Italy and Greece reiterated the necessity of guaranteeing humanitarian access to Gaza and stressed the importance of reaching a ceasefire. The statement concluded with a call for all parties to avoid actions that could be manipulated by those opposed to peace.
