Rome: Pope Leo XIV on Thursday urged global authorities and others not to “remain powerless” in the face of the plight of migrants and refugees.

Leo warned that this indifference could lead to a “globalization of impotence,” where people become “immobile, silent, and sad,” believing that they are powerless against the suffering of innocent individuals.

He stressed the importance of taking actionable steps to address the crisis, encouraging attendees to “propose concrete ways to promote gestures and policies of reconciliation.” Pope Leo highlighted the significance of these efforts particularly in regions that have been scarred by prolonged conflicts, underscoring the need for healing and resolution.
