Disqualification of Sardinia Governor ‘Illegitimate’
Sardinia: Sardinia Governor Alessandra Todde is set to remain in her position after Italy’s Constitutional Court declared that the region’s electoral guarantee board exceeded its powers by disqualifying her in a decision it made in January.
According to Ansa News Agency, the case involves alleged irregularities in expenses for Todde’s successful regional election campaign in February 2024. Todde, who is a former MP for the 5-Star Movement (M5S), was supported by a broad coalition of centre-left parties in her bid to become Sardinia’s first female governor.
