De Bruyne to Have Thigh Surgery, Out for at Least 4 Months
Naples: Kevin De Bruyne will undergo surgery in Belgium for the hamstring injury in his right thigh he suffered while opening the scoring from the penalty spot in the Azzurri’s 3-1 win over title rivals Inter that kept them atop Serie A with the same points as second-placed Roma, three points clear of the Nerazzurri, Napoli said Tuesday saying the injury was worse than initially thought.
According to Ansa News Agency, the Belgium midfield star made the decision after medical tests in Naples and Antwerp, where he will undergo surgery tomorrow. The 34-year-old will be out for at least four months, Napoli sources said. De Bruyne also discussed the necessary surgery with Napoli coach Antonio Conte and club president Aurelio De Laurentiis.
