Days of Italy in Belgrade Celebrates Italian Culture Through Music, Art, and Dance

Belgrade: In anticipation of the Italian Republic Day celebrations, the Italian Embassy in Belgrade, in collaboration with the Madlena Art Palace and the Italian Cultural Institute, has organized the ‘Days of Italy’. This series of three events aims to promote Italian culture through music, art, and entertainment.

According to Ansa News Agency, the initiative commenced with a performance by Neapolitan singer Pina Porzio, who paid homage to the Neapolitan musical tradition. This year marks the 2500th anniversary of Naples’ founding, adding a historical significance to the celebration.

Following this, the event lineup included a seminar titled ‘Dopo Canova. L’arte in Italia nel Romanticismo’, curated by art historian Professor Stefano Zuffi. The seminar was complemented by a screening of the documentary film ‘Canova’ by director Francesco Invernizzi, which delves into the life and works of the renowned neoclassical sculptor.

The concluding day featured traditional Apulian music and dance performances by the ‘Quartetto Salentino’, led by Emanuele Nico Berardi, along with dancers Veronica Calati and Marco Martano. Additionally, a dance masterclass was conducted at the ‘Lujo Davico’ school in Belgrade, fostering a cultural exchange with Serbian students.

“The Days of Italy in Belgrade aim to turn the spotlight on our country’s culture in an ideal connection with the Republic Day celebrations, drawing the public’s attention to Italy and our immense cultural heritage,” commented Luca Gori, the Italian Ambassador to Serbia. He noted the enthusiastic participation from the Serbian public, highlighting their appreciation for the richness of Italian culture.
