D’Ascola Appointed New President of Supreme Court of Cassation

Rome: Pasquale D’Ascola is the new first President of the Supreme Court of Cassation. The decision was made by an extraordinary plenum of the judiciary’s self-governing body, the Supreme Council of Magistrates (CSM), chaired by its titular head, President Sergio Mattarella.

According to Ansa News Agency, D’Ascola was appointed with 14 votes, narrowly defeating his challenger Stefano Mogini by one vote.
