Csaba Latorcai Accuses DK Representative of Political Dishonesty in Parliament

Budapest: Csaba Latorcai, the parliamentary state secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration and Territorial Development and the executive vice president of the KDNP, accused Judit Földi, a representative of the DK, of engaging in politics based on falsehoods during a parliamentary session on Monday.

According to KDNP, Latorcai was responding to Földi’s inquiry about the perceived mistreatment of municipalities. He criticized the DK’s approach to politics, stating, ‘The essence of your politics is lies, they ask lies and state lies.’ Latorcai highlighted the financial mismanagement under the previous socialist government, noting that between 2002 and 2010, local governments, the state, and the Hungarian people faced systematic indebtedness, which resulted in significant debt totaling HUF 1,368 billion that the current government had to assume from local governments.

Latorcai also defended the expectation that wealthier settlements should support those in less fortunate circumstances, questioning the
DK’s stance on municipal solidarity. He further mentioned the launch of the competitive districts program, aimed at providing new opportunities for settlements, underscoring the government’s commitment to improving conditions across various municipalities.
