Costabile’s Familia is Italy’s Oscar Contender
Rome: Francesco Costabile’s critically acclaimed movie Familia was chosen to be Italy’s contender for the best international film Oscar by the selection committee of Italy’s Anica cinema association on Tuesday.
According to Ansa News Agency, Familia, which was presented at the 2024 Venice Film Festival, is the story of a young far-right militant whose life is shattered by the return of his abusive father after a decade-long absence.
The Academy is scheduled to announce its Oscar shortlists on December 16, with the nominations named on January 22, ahead of the Oscar ceremony in Los Angeles on March 15, 2026.
