Cortellesi Smash Hit at China Box Office

Beijing: Paola Cortellesi’s “There’s Still Tomorrow” has become a significant success at the Chinese box office, earning substantial revenue and securing the third position in terms of ticket sales globally, following Italy and France, after just two days in cinemas across China.

According to Ansa News Agency, the Italian Cultural Institute in Beijing reported that the film attracted 450,000 spectators and generated 2.45 million in box office receipts within this short period. This accomplishment places it in third place for earnings worldwide, immediately following the film’s home country, Italy, and France.

Douban, China’s most popular film and book review platform, rated the film with a score of 9.4 out of 10. The film, which tells a story of female emancipation in postwar Italy, resonated with audiences, contributing to its strong performance in the Chinese market.

In Beijing, “There’s Still Tomorrow” was showcased at the Emperor cinema, attended by the film’s director and star, Cortellesi, along with screenwriters Giulia Calenda and Furio Andreotti. They engaged with the audience through a Q and A session following the screening.

The event was graced by the presence of Massimo Ambrosetti, the Italian ambassador to China, and Federico Antonelli, the director of the Italian Cultural Institute. Following the Beijing event, Calenda and Andreotti are set to visit Mongolia, hosted by the Italian Embassy in Ulaanbaatar, to continue promoting the film.
