Cops Who Caught Cop Killer to Get Medals
Rome: Two Carabinieri police officers who apprehended a thief responsible for killing a fellow officer last week are set to receive medals for bravery and fulfilling their duty, announced Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi after meeting with them.
According to Ansa News Agency, the proposal for a medal of civil valor for the two officers from the Taranto police headquarters was made by Piantedosi. The officers intervened to bring those responsible for the murder of Brigadier Carlo Legrottaglie to justice. Piantedosi, along with the chief of police Vittorio Pisani, welcomed the two officers, Vice Inspector Ivan Lupoli and Superintendent Giuseppe Cavallo, at the Viminale.
During the intervention on June 12, one of the two robbers was killed, and the officers have since been placed under investigation for manslaughter.
