Consumer Confidence Declines in June While Business Confidence Sees an Uptick

Rome: In June 2025, consumer confidence will drop again from 96.5 to 96.1, while the composite index of business confidence will rise from 93.1 to 93.9, Istat said Friday.

According to Ansa News Agency, the latest figures indicate a contrasting trend between consumer and business sentiments. The consumer confidence index, which measures the level of optimism that consumers feel about the overall state of the economy and their personal financial situation, has experienced a slight decline. This suggests that consumers may be feeling less optimistic about economic prospects or their financial circumstances.

On the other hand, the composite index of business confidence has shown an improvement, climbing from 93.1 to 93.9. This rise indicates that businesses may be feeling more optimistic about economic conditions and their future prospects. The increase in business confidence could be attributed to factors such as improved market conditions, better-than-expected company performance, or favorable government policies.

The diverging trends between consumer and business confidence highlight the complexities within the economy and the varying perceptions of different economic stakeholders. This data is closely monitored as it can influence economic policy decisions and provide insights into the future economic climate.
