Concern About Sinner After Shanghai Withdrawal

Shanghai: There is concern among Jannik Sinner’s fans after the world number two had to pull out of his match against Tallon Griekspoor at the Shanghai Masters on Sunday. The 24-year-old Italian retired in extremely humid conditions, limping due to severe cramp in his right thigh, when he was down 3-2 in the last set.

According to Ansa News Agency, this incident marks the seventh time Sinner has had to withdraw from a match in his career. The most recent previous occurrence was during the final of the Cincinnati Masters, where he withdrew against his rival Carlos Alcaraz in August.

Last week, Sinner secured a victory at the China Open in Beijing, marking his first tournament win since losing to Alcaraz in the final of the US Open last month. That defeat resulted in Sinner losing the top spot in the world rankings.
